MoneySquare Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 8, 2026

MoneySquare helps users create shared groups, log bills, split expenses, manage personal debts, attach receipts, set reminders, and create payment request links. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, how it is stored, and how users can control it.

Information We Collect

MoneySquare may collect or store information you enter into the app, including:

  • Account information, such as email address, display name, authentication identifier, and login tokens
  • Names, emails, payment handles, or contact details added to debts or shared groups
  • Group names, invite codes, group members, shared bills, split amounts, categories, due dates, and activity history
  • Personal debt information, such as titles, amounts, categories, due dates, reminders, notes, and payment status
  • PayPal handles you choose to save
  • Receipt images you attach
  • App settings such as currency, language, theme, reminders, privacy preferences, and backup/export preferences
  • Advertising and device-related data processed by Google AdMob, subject to Google’s own policies

If you choose to pick a contact from your device, MoneySquare accesses your contacts only for that action. The app does not upload your entire contact list. If you attach receipt images, MoneySquare accesses the selected image only so it can be displayed and stored with the related bill or debt.

How Information Is Used

Your information is used to:

  • Display and manage shared group bills, personal debts, and balances
  • Show who logged a bill and how expenses are split
  • Sync personal data across signed-in devices
  • Sync encrypted shared group data with invited group members
  • Generate payment request text
  • Create PayPal payment request links
  • Show reminders and activity history
  • Export or import app backups where available
  • Improve the app experience

Data Storage And Encryption

MoneySquare stores app data locally on your device so the app can work offline.

When you sign in, MoneySquare can also sync data online using Firebase services. MoneySquare encrypts user app data before saving it to Cloud Firestore. Encrypted Firestore payloads may include contacts, emails contained inside synced app data, group names, group members, personal debts, shared bills, split details, activity entries, and payment handles.

MoneySquare does not store raw email addresses in Firestore document paths. The app uses hashed identifiers and Firebase authentication identifiers for sync access control. Some limited technical metadata may be stored outside the encrypted payload so Firebase security rules can work, such as update time, item counts, hashed owner identifier, and Firebase user IDs for group access control.

Shared group data is encrypted using group invite-code-based key material so invited members can decrypt the shared group after joining. Users should keep invite codes private.

Third-Party Services

MoneySquare may use:

  • Firebase Authentication, for account creation, login, Google Sign-In, and persistent login sessions
  • Cloud Firestore, for encrypted personal sync and encrypted shared group sync
  • Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with Google
  • Google AdMob, to display banner advertisements
  • PayPal links, when you choose to create or open a PayPal payment request
  • Android system services for notifications, contacts, image picking, and biometric/device authentication

Third-party services may process data according to their own privacy policies. Google AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate location, usage data, and diagnostic information to provide and measure ads.

Data Sharing

MoneySquare does not sell your personal data.

Shared group data is available to signed-in users who join the group using the invite code and are allowed by Firestore security rules. Payment links and payment request text are shared only when you choose to open or share them.

Permissions

MoneySquare may request permissions for:

  • Contacts, to pick a person for a debt or bill
  • Photos or media, to attach receipt images
  • Notifications, to show reminders
  • Internet/network access, for login, encrypted sync, ads, and external payment links
  • Biometric/device authentication, if privacy lock features are enabled

Account Deletion And Data Retention

You can edit or delete app data inside the app. You can also remove local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage through your device settings.

Users can delete their account from the app settings. Account deletion signs the user out and requests deletion of the Firebase Authentication account. Some synced group data may remain available to other group members if it belongs to a shared group.

Synced data remains in Firebase until it is overwritten, deleted through app actions, deleted by account deletion flows where supported, or removed by the app operator.

Children’s Privacy

MoneySquare is not intended for children under 13.

Security

MoneySquare uses encryption before Firestore storage and Firebase security rules to reduce unauthorized access. No system can guarantee absolute security, but MoneySquare is designed to avoid storing readable personal finance data in Firestore.
